Wow, this is a new devART category for me. XD
I don't think I have much trad. pieces in my gallery, and I like balance so.. <3 Anyways! This was a class assignment that we had a week to do, and that I did secretly in 3 class periods. And I didn't really have enough time to finish, so I just turned in the lineart: [link] Oh well. She liked it anyways. XD I just didn't feel like doing my in-class assignment, so I whipped this out and started coloring it. People said it looked better before I tried color, so I kept working at it to prove them wrong. I'm stubborn like that. :3 Ummm... lesse. How I went about this: Making the paper: 1) took a piece of regular white paper 2) covered it with shaving cream, added drops of food coloring ( Don't ask. Teacher's insane. ) 3) got mine stolen, so I stole half of my friend's. ^^ ;; 4) let dry, then cut the paper in half because I realized I couldn't draw on such a big paper. Making the art: 5) Felt too lazy to use pencil, so I took a regular thin sharpie and just started freedrawing. I don't like guidelines. 6) finished bits and pieces in my next few classes, while the teacher wasn't looking. x3 Still freehand. Started hatching too, because I can't help it. 7) Wanted to see how it looked colored, so I borrowed my friend's prismacolor pencils to start shading. Unfortunately, shaving cream + colored pencils is very hard. 8) Borrowed watercolor pencils, and another brand of colored pencils, and kept working at it. @_o; 9) got home, found out I still had prismacolor markers, and used that to help make it stronger, more vivid, etc. 10) scanned in, added white highlights on Photoshop 7.0, because I couldn't find a white chalk pastel in RL. adjusted color, added border. 11) saved as JPEG, and voila? I'm sure that was unnecessary, but oh well. XP I don't want to keep being asked how I did it, or why it's really mixed media. I think I might've used one stroke of an oil pastel, or a little bit of white out too. I can't remember most of my day. Overall, about 2 hours lineart, 3 hours color. Umm. Not much to say now. Enjoy? Full View Please! EDIT>> oh yes! I actually switched the sides. [link] This is how I drew it, and how it was intended to look. ^^ however, I thought the long way looked better.... if everyone likes this version better though, I'll replace it. Feedback? ;D EDIT AGAIN >> Forgot to mention this, because I get asked a lot: - NOI never studied anatomy. - NOI did not get this idea from anywhere. It's pretty general, and as I said, it was just freedraw. - NOI did not eat the shaving cream. - YES I suck with prismas. XD - YES there are mistakes, because even though I'm used to drawing straight onto paper with pure pen or sharpie, I do make mistakes, and can't really fix them easily. |
